Q/A- Lady Margaret Beaufort

Dear maryjbradley,
I recived a comment from you asking if Henry VII's mother was involved in getting him to be King.
Lady Margaret is King Henry VII's mother, and yes she did have influence. While he was King, they called her My Lady the Kings Mother. That already shows how important she was. Have you ever read the book- "The Red Queen" by Philippa Greggory? It contains lots of information on Margaret Beaufort. If you are asking if she push him to be King, then yes, she push very hard. As you might already know, Lady Margaret was on the Lancaster side of the War of the Roses. Her son was their only hope, so of course she would make sure he was safe at all times and ready for battle. For awhile she had to act as a spy. While she was in her third marriage (She had a total of four) she was serving the then Queen Elizabeth. She passed storys of court to Henry, who was away in exile with his uncle, Jared Tudor. You see, Jared Tudor, Margaret Beaufort, and Henry Tudor formed a sort of team. Jared trying to find people to support Henry, Margaret passing along knowledge. If it did not happen the way it did, then there possibly wouln't have been a Tudor line at all.

Hope that answered your question. If you still are not sure, comment or email me.
